While the future king’s personal footage wasn’t shared publicly, he did post a message on social media congratulating Aston Villa whom he’s supported for decades.
“Amazing night! Huge congratulations to all the players, team, staff and everyone connected to the club! 44 years since the last taste of European silverware!” William wrote.
“Special shout out to Boubacar Kamara, who has been out injured but is such an integral part of our team and helped lay the foundations of this success.”
Kamara is Aston Villa’s midfielder, who has been forced to miss the rest of the football season as a result of an injury.
William is known to be a diehard fan of Villa, telling the BBC in 2015 what first attracted him to the club.
“A long time ago at school, I got into football big time. I was looking around for clubs. All my friends at school were either Man United fans or Chelsea fans, and I didn’t want to follow the run-of-the-mill teams,” he explained.
“I wanted to have a team that was more mid-table that could give me more emotional rollercoaster moments.”
His dedication to Villa has clearly been inherited by his eldest son, 12-year-old Prince George, as the pair have been spotted at major games together, excitedly cheering in the stands, in recent years.
However, as William told reporters during an official engagement last week, Princess Charlotte, 10, reportedly is a Chelsea fan.
