When it comes to beauty buys, fragrance can be a big investment, so making it last makes as much sense financially as it does olfactorily.
Start by thinking about the concentration; switching from an eau de toilette (EDT) to an eau de parfum (EDP) may cost more initially, but the higher concentration of fragrance oils in an EDP will extend the longevity of the fragrance both on the wearer and in the bottle. The depth of an EDP is also great for winter as the cooler weather slows evaporation.
If you’re prepping for a special event, or simply have time to indulge, layering a scent is the way to go. Start with a range’s body wash, followed by the matching body cream. Finish with three to four spritzes of the perfume. If your skin in sensitive to fragrance, spritz your clothes; wool, cotton and linen work best as receptors, but steer clear of silk, as the fragrance may cause stains.
To enhance the longevity of your favourite scent, cover your body well with moisturiser before applying EDP, as moisturised skin attracts fragrance molecules better than dry skin. Another way to extend the life of your fragrance is to top it up as the day unfolds using a purse-friendly atomiser.
