ASPI Senior Analyst Malcolm Davis says there is a “growing concern” China “will use violence” against Taiwan by the end of the decade.
“You are seeing an increasing diplomatic engagement” between Taipei and the Western world “to deter China,” Mr Davis told Sky News host Caleb Bond.
“The concern is they are going to attack Taiwan no matter what we do.
“Ideally, we should be arming them now.”
