Former prime minister Tony Abbott was heckled by a group of ‘Yes’ campaigners upon his arrival at a pre-polling centre for the Voice in Western Australia.
Mr Abbott labelled the act as “counterproductive and mindless”.
“Nevertheless, I was grateful when they stopped the heckling and we were able to have quite a good discussion,” Mr Abbott said.
“We all want the best for Aboriginal people – we’re just divided about what the best means of doing that is.”
Shadow Treasurer Angus Taylor was also confronted by a Voice supporter, accusing him of not being “respectful” towards First Nations people.
