Police investigating the disappearance of Tauranga man Harley Shrimpton confirmed they’ve “had a couple of calls” following an appeal for sightings or information.

The 28-year-old has not been seen by his family since November 3, and they are concerned for his welfare.

Police issued an appeal via media release on Saturday, and have received some information already.

“The appeal still stands, and we are assessing the information as to whether that can help us find him. We encourage anyone else to come forward,” a police spokesperson said.

In a post on Facebook, Nax Poihakena – who identified herself as Shrimpton’s step-sister – said whānau have had no word from Shrimpton for 15 days.

“Phones off which is unusual for so long,” she wrote.

Poihakena added that possible sightings have been sent to her mother, including in the Mount and at McDonald’s Tauranga on November 3. He could possibly be in the Poripori Kaimai area, she wrote.

“Please if anyone has seen or heard anything, his family are hurting not knowing if he is ok.”
