Liberal Senator Dave Sharma says he does not think the war in the Middle East will end until Hamas or its military capabilities are “permanently destroyed”.
The terror group released its final group of eight hostages to the Red Cross in Gaza on Thursday.
Israel’s Defence Force claimed that one hour before the truce was due to end, rocket sirens reportedly started to sound near Israel and Gaza’s border.
Mr Sharma backed Israelis intention to find and bring back the hostages kept in Gaza but acknowledged Hamas will not “willingly release” all of them.
“It’s only when the Palestinian people in Gaza, but also Israel, are liberated from the threat of Hamas that this conflict comes to an end,” he told Sky News Australia.
