The Suva women’s cricket league has kicked off its second round at Albert Park, Suva, yesterday.

This is to prepare for the national women’s side for the Pacific Cup in New Zealand, next month.

Cricket Fiji chief executive officer Sitiveni Rokoro said there have been eight teams competing in the League.

“The finals will be on January 6, after the sixth round,” he said.

“Most of these women are part of the national side that will play at the Pacific Cup in January; so starting the league at this time helps in their preparation for the tournament.

“We started last week with our eight teams; four teams are taking part at the Nadi League,” Rokoro added.

The Suva cricket league teams include defending champions Moce, Sarafui, Serua, Suva, Nausori and Tailevu.
