South Pacific Boxing Promotions believes in assisting aspiring men and women boxers become champions.
Fiji Boxing promoter, Freddy Chand said it was significant to encourage more Fijian women into the sports.
For that Chand says more promotions are coming up next year.
“We got a promotion on May 18 plus two more. We always believe in young talents. We said five years ago that we are here to make champions and the list included Kauyaca, Jese, James Naidu, Nawai Jnr Binnu Shamal, and the latest Middleweight champion, Winston Hill.
He said there was a need for women in boxing.
“We need more ladies’ boxing bouts to be included in all professional bouts. Kids exhibition bouts are happening in Fiji.”
Chand said talks were underway to have amateur bouts included as curtain raisers in professional boxing programmes.

“From the SPBP promotion team, me and Mohammed Shameen are trying to put the best shows in every professional promotion,” he said.
“At the same time we also bring hidden talents to showcase as well.”
Chand said the venue for May 18 has not been confirmed, in the meantime they are planning for overseas draw cards.
“We will have a few overseas draw cards as well.”
He added one of the things lacking in Fiji Boxing was sponsorship.
“We need sponsors to back up our boxing youngsters. We request our big companies to come on board with us, they will never regret as they will get good mileage.”
Chand added that SPBP congratulates Maureen Numia Chand from the Seaside Boxing Club.
“She (Chand) took on Australian boxer, Stephanie Lee to full 6 rounds in Newcastle Australia. She lost on point’s decision. She also fought against the Sydney champion, Pemmy Denice,” he added.
