Aged care royal commission ‘getting to the pointy end’

National Seniors Australia Chief Executive Chris Grice says we’re “getting to the pointy end” of the aged care royal commission after a federal taskforce’s latest recommendation regarding funding in the sector.

Wealthy older Australians could be asked to contribute more to aged care costs after the government’s recent taskforce.

“We’re getting to the pointy end of the royal commission, which was back in 2019,” Mr Grice told Sky News Australia.

“148 recommendations and one of those was about funding.

“So that’s what the taskforce was all about … basically coming up with some different solutions around funding aged care going forward.”
