Team New Zealand dominated the first day of the America’s Cup preliminary regatta in Jeddah and won the opening two fleet races to lead the standings on Friday (NZ time).
The Kiwi Cup defenders finished fifth in the third race won by Luna Rossa but hold a four-point lead ahead of the final two days in Saudi Arabia.
American Magic, who beat Team NZ to win the first preliminary regatta in Vilanova i la Geltrú in September, are bottom on only one point after two disqualifications for repeated infringements.
