Damodar Group chief executive officer, Divyesh Damodar told SunBiz this, describing Damodar City Labasa as part of a competitive market, giving consumers options to choose.

Vanua Levu previously only had one cinema option with Life Cinema located at the Charan Jeath Singh mall.

The arrival of Damodar City Labasa Cinemas has been expected to provide tough competition.

Mr Damodar, said expansion of services within the Labasa Township has been the aim.

Talks with public transport to extend operating hours Mr Damodar confirmed talks with public transport providers on extending their operating times to help customers and shoppers access transport at night.

“Before this development, there wasn’t much for operators at those hours, but now we have Extra Supermarket and other shops in the mall which are operating in the night,” he said.

Extra Supermarket opens from 9am to 9pm.

Taking this development into consideration, Mr Damodar, said the Land Transport Authority (LTA) was in discussion to possibly relook at public transport operating licenses.

“Some bus routes are now starting again, taxi services are operating late in the night now,” Mr Damodar said.
