An Australian doctor has become the first patient in the world to receive a personalised brain cancer vaccine.
Melanoma Institute Australia Co-Medical Director Prof Richard Scolyer volunteered to receive the treatment, after being diagnosed with the deadliest form of brain cancer in June this year.
Mr Scolyer said he was happy to be the “guinea pig” for the experimental treatment.
“First patient in the world to embark on this form of treatment.
“To see if we could improve the dismal prognosis and treatment that hasn’t changed in essentially 18 years.”
