The Fiji Airways Fijiana women’s sevens side suffered a 26-12 loss to Australia in their second pool game of the Vancouver Sevens, this afternoon.
Trailing 14-5 at halftime, strong words from coach, Saiasi Fuli, where he urged the players to play smart rugby failed to inspire them.
The Ana Maria Naimasi captained-side was lost when pressured by the Australian defence. This was coupled by poor defence as the Australians easily brushed aside their feeble tackles to score tries.
The Fijiana tries were scored by Reapi Ulunisau and Vani Buleki with Naimasi landing a conversion.
The Fijians will need to score a big win against Japan on Sunday morning in their final pool game if they are to stand a chance of qualifying for the Cup quarterfinals.
