What are the groups for the World Cup 2026?
The draw for the 2026 World Cup took place on Saturday December 6, at the Kennedy Centre in Washington, DC. The All Whites are grouped with world No 8-ranked Belgium, Egypt and Iran in Group G.
For the first time 48 nations make up the World Cup, an increase from 32 at the last tournament. Cape Verde, Curaçao, Jordan and Uzbekistan make their World Cup debuts. DR Congo and Haiti return for the first time since 1974.
There are 16 teams from Europe, six from South America, 10 from Africa, nine from Asia and six from Concacaf and one from Oceania.
Italy are the only former champions who did not qualify. Curaçao is the smallest nation to ever qualify for World Cup, with a population of approximately 156,000.
The 48 teams were divided into twelve groups of four teams (Groups A to L). The top two advance to the Round of 32, the first phase of the knockout round, along with eight of the 12 third-ranked teams.
