Raise your pornstar martinis to the most popular recipe search trends of 2025 – not a chicken one-pot among them.
It’s that most (weird and) wonderful time of the year − when Google releases its 10 most searched for food terms for the year, which inevitably have little to no correlation to our own Good Food findings. Where are the chicken one-pots and midweek pastas? And why the sudden obsession with Easter? I blame it − like nearly everything else − on TikTok. Without further ado, here were the top trending recipes of 2025, in reverse order, to help build that suspense.
10. Turkish pasta recipe
You can blame/thank Anna Paul for this one. The Aussie mega influencer has 5.8 million TikTok followers, many of whom went gaga for her Mama’s 10-minute Turkish Pasta. This twist on the traditional Turkish manti (mince-filled Turkish dumplings) pairs seasoned ground beef with pasta and creamy garlic yoghurt sauce, before being drizzled in a buttery paprika sauce. Any good? Give our version a go and let me know (or don’t).
9. Ninja slushi recipes
For just under $500, you can buy yourself a Ninja slushi machine. My question is: how many slushies are you drinking on the reg to make this worth splashing out on? Are you high on sugar or 13 years old? Otherwise, there’s no excuse for it. Yes, I know it makes smoothies, mocktails and Maccas-style thickshakes, too, but from what I hear, the Kmart one (admittedly still not that cheap by Anko standards) at $179 is just about as good. Landfill waiting to happen.
8. Cloud cake recipe
The clue is in the name − these light-as-a-cloud cakes are said to be less sweet, quicker to make, and often less calorific than their heftier cake counterparts. A quick Google will take you to everything from two-ingredient healthy cloud cakes to the viral versions from South Korean-French bakery chain (and supposed inventors) Tous Les Jours (not available in Australia − yet). Until then, you can give it a crack yourself, if that, err, floats your boat.
7. Bacon dessert recipes
Again, not one you’ll see a whole heap of recipes for on Good Food, but we do have Helen Goh’s pumpkin spice pancakes with bacon and maple syrup to scratch any salty-sweet urges you may have. Heston Blumenthal made bacon and egg ice-cream kind of a thing back in 2015, but it’s not immediately obvious why it’s been so big in 2025. Unlike our own viral recent ham taste test, which has quickly become one of our biggest stories of the year. Sweeeet.
6. Japanese ‘mounjaro’ recipe
At the other end of the spectrum, there’s been a big spike in searches for the recipe for a “natural” version of injectable weight-loss drug Mounjaro. This hot drink is made from water, lemon, honey, ginger, apple cider vinegar and sometimes matcha, miso, mint and other things starting with “m” (probably), and sounds more like a solution for a sore throat to me than weight loss. But also a lot less painful and expensive. Not one you’ll ever see a recipe for on Good Food, TBH!
5. Pornstar martini recipe
And the award for the most stamina goes to … the pornstar martini − making its third consecutive appearance in the most searched-for Google recipe lists of the year. Martinis may be having a big moment, but they don’t get any bigger − apparently − than the pornstar, a heady combo of passionfruit liqueur, vanilla vodka, lime juice and champagne or prosecco that’s sure to get the party started. It’s also known as passionfruit martini, but where’s the fun in ordering that?
4. Easter recipes
Not going to lie, writing about Easter recipes in December makes my brain explode. But move over Christmas, the stats show it was the cooking occasion of the year. Was it all those chocolatey desserts, the roast lamb recipes, or (spoiler alert), the hot cross buns? Whatever it was, it seems we were all in the mood for it way back in April. And we’ll do it all again before you even know it. Time to start practising those eggstra bad puns.
3. Dubai chocolate recipe
No surprises here, Dubai chocolate was everywhere in 2025, including smeared down the front of my top at one stage. The sweet combo of chocolate with a pistachio-packed filling has long been associated with exotic luxury − and is now available at that high-end department store Aldi. At about $25-plus a block, it’s still a “sometimes” food. But you can also make your own and be the coolest and most on-trend kid at the party: Helen Goh’s Dubai chocolate brownie andKatrina Meynink’s version are delicious places to start.
2. Pink salt trick recipe
Another of those “it sounds too good to be true” weight-loss recipes − and sorry to say, it probably is. The pink salt trick recipe is a home-made three-ingredient detox drink recipe made with Himalayan pink salt, lemon juice and water. Cheap, quick to make, and sure to taste disgusting − if you drink it and don’t eat much else you will lose weight, but there must be better ways, seriously guys.
1. Hot cross bun recipe
It’s true, hot cross buns come out earlier and earlier each year, but December 4th is really pushing my patience. What is it about them you love so much? The squidgy, sweetly spiced bun studded with raisins and slathered in butter? That they make eating virtual cake for breakfast kind of acceptable? Whatever it is, they are more popular than ever. And you only have to wait a few more sleeps until they’re back on supermarket shelves. Or make Helen Goh’s hot cross buns yourself. Happy Chrismeaster!
