The Kaiviti Silktails hopes to finish in the top four in the Jersey Flegg Cup this season.
This is a level-up from the Ron Massey Cup competition which they have been playing since 2020.
Head coach Wes Naiqama said while this will involve a lot of travel; they look forward to more game time.
The 38-member squad will play a total of 18 to 24 rounds in their new competition which includes home matches.
“We want to be competitive; we are not there to make the numbers,” he said.
“We would like to make it to the semi-finals that will be a great achievement.
“We will host four home games, it will be confirmed once the season fixture is finalised.”
The Silktails re-signed eight players from last year and 22 players this year, so far.

Meanwhile, Naiqama has re-signed Fenton Williams for the 2024 season.
Naiqama said that Fenton’s performance during the 2023 season has made him well-deserving of his 2024 re-signing.
“Having recruited Fenton from Fiji Secondary Schools competition, his growth over the last 12 months has been amazing,” he said.
“He played tough last season and had to play some big minutes as we ran into injuries mid-season, but the experience gained through that will put him in good stead for next year.”
The Silktails will play two trial matches before the season kicks off.
They finished sixth with 18 points in the 2023 Ron Massey Cup competition.
