Laugwata school project on track for completion – Solomon Star News

The Australia-funded classroom project at Laugwata Secondary School in West Kwara’ae, Malaita Province, is now 99.9 per cent complete and is expected to be fully finished by next week.

The remaining work includes construction of a ramp, painting, and general clean-up around the building.

The project commenced in early March last year and, despite several challenges encountered during implementation, has been delivered within its scheduled timeframe.

Parents and members of the local community played a significant role in supporting the construction through voluntary labour and active participation during organised working days.

Their commitment and cooperation have been described as key factors in the project’s success.

During the school’s first parental working day held this week, parents expressed happiness and pride as they viewed the near-completed classroom building.

Many described the development as a dream come true for the community, reflecting months of hard work and dedication.

Speaking to the Solomon Star, parent Robert Buai said the community is looking forward to the official handover so students can begin using the facility this year.

“I am looking forward to the classroom being handed over to the school so that our children can access learning in a proper environment.

“I am really happy to see our hard work and commitment become a reality,” Mr Buai said.

The new classroom building is expected to significantly improve the learning environment for students at Laugwata Secondary School once it is officially handed over later this year.
