Members of the public have been warned to be on the lookout for imposters who are distributing Land Transport Authority (LTA) vehicle transfer forms for monetary gain.

LTA acting chief executive officer Irimaia Rokosawa said the organisation had received multiple reports about those who had been impersonating as LTA officials.

He said the fraudulent activity was a concern as it undermined its commitment to conducting its operations transparently.

“Authorised LTA officers do not distribute application forms on the streets or in public areas, nor do they advise the public in open spaces to sign a transfer form unknowingly,” Mr Rokosawa said.

“All legitimate LTA transactions and interactions take place within the secure confines of our 20 branches located throughout the country.”

Mr Rokosawa urged Fijians to take precautionary measures, remain vigilant when approached by individuals involved in the fraudulent activity, and report the matter to the LTA or police.

“It is crucial to verify the credentials of anyone purporting to represent the LTA by requesting their official accreditation.

Legitimate LTA officers will readily provide identification upon request,” he said.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations (ACP) Livai Driu said although no arrests had been made, members of the public had been urged to verify documents first before making any financial transactions.

In addition to these cautionary measures, the LTA is encouraging the public to stay informed about official announcements and updates through the official LTA channels, including the LTA website www.lta.com.fj and social media platforms – Facebook (@Officialltafj), X (@Official_LTAFJ), Instagram (@Officialltafj) and Tiktok (@Official_LTAFJ).

Mr Rokosawa said the authority was grateful and appreciative of the support and co-operation of the public in maintaining the integrity of its services.
