Each week, we quiz a prominent person about their style and the inspiration behind it. Ahead, actor Aubri Ibrag.
How would describe your personal style? Eclectic and constantly evolving. I let my style change as I do, rather than committing to just one aesthetic. I’ve had a grunge stage, a ’50s phase, even an ’80s moment. Now, I’m in my minimalist era.
What’s the oldest thing in your wardrobe? A pair of YSL “Tribute” heels I bought when I was 18.
And the most recent addition? I’m working in Spain and bought a pair of Bimba Y Lola pointed-toe cone-heel pumps. It’s fair to say I have a bit of a shoe obsession.
What would you wear … on a first date? It depends where we’re going but a low-waisted midi skirt and long-sleeve top with kitten heels is always a safe bet. … on a plane? A hoodie, vintage Adidas cargo pants and my Adidas “Samba OG” sneakers. … on the red carpet? I recently wore an incredible Tom Ford for Gucci vintage dress to an event for The Buccaneers in New York City.

What’s your favourite fashion era? I love how nonchalant and unserious ’90s fashion was. Grunge, minimalism, hip-hop and street style co-existed alongside the sparkles and miniskirts of pop and teen culture. It was effortless but expressive.
Who’s your favourite designer? Saint Laurent. The pieces are simple, minimal and incredibly flattering. Walking into the store is dangerous – last time I left with a jersey slip dress and a pair of black knee-high “Jill” boots.

And your worst fashion mistake? Wearing a long, heavy corset dress made from wallpaper to a fashion show. It was too small and when I arrived, I fell out of the car and ripped the back. Not my classiest moment!
Can you remember a favourite outfit you wore as a child? When I was six, I had a puffy white dress that made me feel like the princess from my favourite movie, Cinderella.
What’s at the top of your wish list? A Saint Laurent textured-leather bomber jacket. I’ve been eyeing it for a long time. I’m hoping that by putting it out into the universe, I can manifest it into my wardrobe.
Is there something you’d never wear? A poncho.
What do you sleep in? Skims pyjamas.
Is there a current trend you like? I love that bobs and bangs are coming back.
What shoes do you wear most often? A pair of zebra ballet flats from Mango that go with everything.
Who is your favourite fashion icon? I love Kate Moss for that iconic, minimalist, slip-dress energy – bias-cut satin, sheer layers, tiny straps, barely there heels and the smudged liner, undone hair, cigarette-in-hand insouciance. It’s sensual but accidental, effortless but razor sharp. She made “I just threw this on” feel like high art. I also love model and musician Gabbriette, who channels that same rawness but darker – leather jackets, low-rise skirts, thin brows, messy hair, heavy eyeliner. Her style is grungy and chaotic – less supermodel polish, more backstage at 2am.
What do you wear on a typical working day? I’m usually in costume so I’ll wear comfortable pants and a hoodie. Somehow, I always lose clothes on set, so I avoid wearing anything too precious.
What’s your favourite off-duty, casual Sunday look? I’ll be lounging around at home in my Cou Cou Intimates slip dress and cosy slippers.
Aubri Ibrag is the face of Jan Logan’s “Maddalena” campaign.
