Leeds United manager Daniel Farke was left stunned at Patrick Bamford’s “world-class’’ goal and the ex-England striker also rated it the best of his career.
Bamford supplied the second – and best – goal in Leeds’ 3-0 FA Cup third round win at Peterborough on Sunday (Monday NZ time).
Starting for just the second time this season after a frustrating injury run, Bamford leapt high, controlled the ball on his chest, swivelled and volleyed home a rocket from 23m out from goal.
Asked by a TV interview if he had ever scored a better goal, Bamford said: “No, probably not”, although he insisted “it just counts the same as a tap-in”.
“As soon as I brought it down on my chest, I only had one thing on my mind.”
Farke told reporters “the whole world after this goal, will praise him’’.

“It’s a world-class goal. There’s no other words for this. I’m happy and delighted for him because he deserves it.
Farke was even happier that Bamford, who earned his sole England cap in 2021, was back to full fitness.
“The most important thing is he is healthy, his body works right now that he’s coming back more and more to his perfect shape. He’s important for us.”
Bamford joined Leeds in 2018 after earlier playing for Nottingham Forest, Chelsea and Middlesbrough.
