A senior pastor in the Seventh Day Adventist Church says the prevalence of hard drugs in Fiji is sad and can be curbed if the government, church and the vanua work well together.

Pastor Mike Sikuri, the division secretary for the South Pacific Division said these in Nadi following a break from the ‘Set Apart’ — TPUM Missional Convention 2024 at Sabeto’s Fulton College.

“It’s quite sad when we think about it, I left Fiji nine years ago, still read the news regularly and it’s sad to see the prevalence of hard drugs,” Mr Sikuri said.

“When I was a young person many years ago, those are things we just see in the movies, I think collectively we should be asking ourselves the question why.

“Instead of branding people, we should ask ourselves questions like why people end up engaging in these kinds of activities.”

Mr Sikuri says as a church, they believed the body is the temple of God and should always be taken care of.

He said how well it’s taken care of was also vitally important.
