Guinea pig of the Week: Burnt Toast

Burnt Toast is a terrific example of a wonderful pet who’s overcome a rough start and flourished with a little love. Also, a good example of the interesting name attribution created by RSPCA ACT staff.

This six-month-old Guinea Pig suffered trauma and was very stressed, so much so that she began shedding hair. An RSPCA ACT staff member agreed to take her home and care for her. She needed time to relax and enjoy calmness.

After months of care, Burnt Toast is a lovely girl, and she’s ready to be adopted and join other guinea pigs for a long and happy life.

She’s still young and a little shy, but we’ve seen how sweet and resilient she can be.

Dog of the Week: Zara

This two-year-old American Staffordshire-cross is a people lover. She’s affectionate and eager to please, the sort of dog companion who lifts your mood because she just loves you.

She’ll be a great sidekick, always wanting to go where you go, including on long adventures or short strolls around the neighbourhood. True to her breed, she’ll be super loyal.

Zara loves children too, but as she’s a miniature turbo-unit, she could cause havoc with toddlers, so we recommend a household with children above the age of six.

This is a terrific dog, great for a family and one who will be a part of your adventures for a long time. You’ll need a yard with a good fence, but other than that, Zara is ready to join your family!

Pawnotes: We currently have a huge variety of animals waiting to be adopted, including dogs, cats, mice, guinea pigs, ducks, rabbits and birds!
