RSPCA ACT’s Pets of the Week: Junior and Stella

Dog of the Week: Junior

Here’s a massive, boof-head of a boy to get your arms around! This is Junior, a name fitting because he’s so small and petite.

Just kidding.

This handsome, somewhat enormous boy weighs 45 kg and has good manners, love and politeness.

He’s a 4.5-year-old Mastiff with a lovely temperament and walks like a true gentleman on a lead. What a great dog.

He has a huge head, too, which people tend to go for when they pat him. He seems to love it. In fact, he welcomes nearly all attention. He’s a real-life gentle giant who’s been loved and shared plenty of love in the past.

The perfect home for big Junior is one where he’s the only dog on site; however, he is selective and doesn’t mind some other dogs. But we’d prefer to play it safe. We also think a home with children would suit him, but perhaps older kids, mostly because of his size and weight.

Stella

Stellaaaaaaaaaaa! There’s no need to shout – she’s right here waiting for you! Photo: RSPCA ACT.

Cat of the Week: Stella

This is a playful, friendly cat named Stella; however, she won’t show you her friendly or playful side at first. Stella is very shy, but we’ve made great progress on this since she arrived at our shelter.

Cats like Stella are referred to as Project Cats because they’re simply not used to people or relying on us for affection. But she does have it. Once given time, peace and quiet, we’ve seen her emerge from her shell and become a great companion.

Stella is only 2.5 years old, and we think a home with another trustworthy and confident cat to show her what’s what and how things go could lead to a wonderful forever home.

We often hear from people who have previously adopted Project Cats. They tell us how closely bonded they are and how wonderful the relationship becomes after patience and time. Now it’s your turn!

Pawnotes: We’re seeing scores of kittens arrive and fortunately get adopted fairly quickly as of late. Please remember, there are some wonderful adult cats who are just as worthy of a forever home (like Stella!)
