A fire and emergency shift manager said it sent two fire trucks and a support vehicle to the scene and administered first aid, before St John took over.
There were no reports of anyone being trapped.
The road is currently closed and motorists have been asked to avoid the area, with traffic management being arranged.
The Serious Crash Unit has been notified.
