Dog of the Week: Freddy

This is an awesome dog. Seriously, just a great dog. Great with children. Great with other dogs. He’s gentle and loves playing with toys. Super dog.

It’s certainly not Freddy’s doing that he’s ended up with us, so we’re hoping the stay will be brief. Speaking behaviorally, he’s great. He’s young and will need to learn the house rules once adopted, but that’s about it.

As for breed, we’re confidently saying he’s 100 per cent dog. We don’t know what mix of breeds he is. Take a guess. For this boy, it really doesn’t matter.

Freddy has already met a few potential adopters and their children. It’s a delight to see his joy, and it’s only a matter of time before he’s adopted. Maybe that lucky person is you?

Bird of the Week: Cocky

This is the delightful Cocky, a Galah and part of the cockatoo family. She’s about 28 years old, very domesticated, and she can be quite a fun companion.

We’ve learned a few things about her in recent weeks; for instance, she loves a head scratch through the bars of her cage. But she especially loves running around on the ground and straight up your trouser leg so she can be with you.

She’s not very loud and will be a great housemate. You’ll need a large (or preferably extra-large) indoor cage or enclosure so she’s comfortable and, ideally, can scurry around in a room with you, free-range style. She cannot fly.

Pawnotes: Last week’s Pets of the Week, Ralph the greyhound and Frank the pig, were adopted! We’re very happy about Frank who, after 133 days with us, has been placed with a buddy pig with plenty of room.
