Suva halfback Jonathan Sovasova said it was divine intervention that he is now a Police constable.

Sovasova was one of the Fiji Police Force 217 recruits that was part of the pass out parade at Nasova, Suva yesterday.

“It’s an honour and privilege to be passing out today as it has been a childhood dream of mine to be a Police officer,” he said.

“I was a special constable for two years before I joined Batch 66.”

Sovasova represented the Police rugby side in 2021, 2022 and 2023 in the Sukuna Bowl as a scrumhalf.

“In the beginning of this year I was playing for Suva, I didn’t expect joining the recruit halfway through the Skipper competition but during the course I was always thinking of the boys (Suva team).”

Sovasova said his grandfather was always encouraging him to play rugby when he was in Year 9 at Marist Brothers High School.

“My grandfather Henry Raymond Bull used to play rugby back in the days so growing up I’ve always tried to find where my talent fits in and I’m glad I found rugby,” he said.

“After this I’ll go back to training and focus on trying to achieve the goals that I’ve set.”

“My goal next year is to represent Suva in the Skipper Cup and play in the Sukuna Bowl next year.”
