Independent Economist Saul Eslake says he doesn’t think the stage three tax cuts will provide an independent source of “additional inflationary pressure”.
Some economists predict the RBA will start cutting rates from around September.
Mr Eslake told Sky News Australia that the Reserve Bank and Treasury are also not “forecasting that” to happen.
“It’s just simply, that is a source of additional support for household income.
“That I think reduces the need for the Reserve Bank to consider bringing forward reductions in interest rates.”
