The first two races on the card were run without incident before jockeys voiced concerns about a softer part of the track between the 500m and 350m after the third race.

Jockeys and stewards subsequently inspected the area before club staff moved the rail out a metre in a bid to bypass the affected section before riders had another look at the course.

However, a majority of jockeys riding in upcoming races voted in a secret ballot against continuing the meeting.

The meeting’s chief steward Sam Cochrane said jockeys had not voiced any concerns about the affected area in the lead-up to the start of the meeting.

Racing Victoria will investigate the Kilmore track issues while assessing whether the Listed Kilmore Cop can be rescheduled to another date.
