One person has died after a two-vehicle crash on the Main South Rd in Selwyn District, Canterbury.
Emergency services responded to the serious crash at around 5.40pm.
As at 9pm, the Serious Crash Unit was in attendance and the road remained closed.
Police were advising motorists to use alternative routes and avoid the area.
