Two boring machines have broken through solid rock, arriving at what will be a Metro station at Five Dock.

They have been given the names Beatrice and Daphne.

Daphne smashed through first, closely followed by Beatrice, after building the section of the Metro tunnel from The Bays to Five Dock.

NSW Premier Chris Minns said that once it is completed, it will be one of the “busiest in the entire country”.

“Connecting these two regions with this public transport infrastructure is a major piece of the jigsaw puzzle in how this Sydney city will grow,” he said.
