Prime Minister, Sitiveni Rabuka is counting on Fijian support while steering the nation towards his second year as leader of Gov­ernment.

In his Christmas message yesterday and during the coalition Government’s one-year anniversary church service at the Centenary Church in Suva, the PM called for peace, love and unity.

Mr Rabuka thanked the Fijian people for trusting and support­ing them to lead the nation.

Although there were challenges faced during their first 12 months of leadership, Mr Rabuka said he was grateful that unity was a maintained value.

“I am here to give our collective voice of thanks to the people of Fiji and everyone for their contribution towards the successful achievements of the coalition Government’s work throughout this one year,” he said.

Mr Rabuka said maintaining spiritual unity in the coalition Government allowed them to share the same focus on building a stronger and prosperous Fiji.

“I acknowledge the three Deputy Prime Ministers for their leadership and their contribution, and I also congratulate my team in Government as well as the Opposition bench for being good quality,” he said.

“I also thank all sectors of our society, religious groups, NGOs, and faith-based organisations, to name just a few for all they have done in shaping our nation.”

As we celebrate Christmas, Mr Rabuka is calling on the public to be more responsible and to ponder more on the real purpose of Christmas.

“So many things tend to happen during this time of the year.

Be more responsible about your lives, spend more time with your families and most importantly I want to remind Fiji to maintain and nurture the value of spiritual unity,” Mr Rabuka said.

The offerings from the service will be donated to orphanages for their Christmas celebration.
