It was an important day at the Lautoka Bowling Club (LBC) last Sunday with a successful trips lawn Bowls event to raise funds for WOWS Kids Fiji.
History was created when the Naya Jeevan Church of Surrey, Canada kicked off proceeding with a generous donation of $6000.
LBC trustees chairman Raymond Singh and his dedicated board members Abhinesh Dass, Rajiv Lal, Sanjay Krishna and Reena Naicker set a target of $10,000 to be collected on the day.
Gavya Sports/Gavya Finance director, Sudev Sharma of Sydney, Australia, pitched in to sponsor the event that saw all 48 participants receive a prize each.
At the conclusion of the tournament a handsome amount of $11,580 was collected .
A confident, passionate Reena Naicker representing the RSR Group of Companies through Long Run Fiji and Neritak made sure to collect $2000 just from raffle ticket sales.
Tournament director, Abhinesh Dass made sure the event was successfully concluded with Rajiv Lal and his donors, surpassing the $10,000 target.
Chairman Singh thanked Naya Jeevan Church and it’s passionate members to donate a generous $6000 for a very worthy cause.
“My board members have set a $20,000 target for Wows Kids Fiji for 2024,” Singh said.

In the tournament proper, Grid Security skipped by Olaf Allen Jnr finished first, with Philip’s Autoport as runners-up, skipped by Rajinesh Prasad .
Amitesh Lal’s Titleist 7 finished third with Illi Seru’s Weslec fourth. Jacqueline Chan skipped Fiji Airways won the most improved team prize.
